Are you ready for some Fall Ball?
Regular season play (ten games consisting of five doubleheaders) will begin on September 3. We intend to have playoffs at the end of league games (if fields are available and if the weather cooperates) where two teams from each league are eligible to play. The winning team in each league or each division of a league with two divisions will receive fourteen long sleeve fall ball t-shirts. Additional awards will be presented to the top teams in the playoffs.
We are offering four levels of play in men’s and co-rec play. In Class B, teams are allowed unlimited runs and unlimited home runs. In Classes C, D, and E, we will use a rule pioneered ten years ago in the World’s Largest Softball Tournament known as the classification run rule. This rule determines the number of runs a team may score in a game based on its classification. We have removed the home run restrictions from Class C, D and E. It is not about the number of home runs a team hits, it is about the amount of runs a team scores. We want all teams to have a chance to have a successful fall ball season, and this rule discourages teams from playing down. See additional information on the classification run rule.
Be aware that all requests for specific dates, leagues or fields may not be honored. The available fields are Glen Allen Complex. Short Pump and Hunton.
Please complete the enclosed application and return as soon as possible with check payable to RVA Softball, LLC for the league entry fee to: RVA Softball, 11213 Nuckols Road, Suite A, Glen Allen, VA 23059. Please be sure to list as your second choice of nights or fields, that you can play that night. We accommodate as many teams as we can with their choices, and preference is given to the earliest entering teams whenever possible. This is done to encourage teams not to wait until the last minute to enter, which makes it difficult for us to prepare schedules in a timely manner.
